Meet Rose

From the Dominican Republic! Meet Rose! She is a FirstGen of many things—including scientist. She was born and raised in the Dominican Republic with no access or exposure to science and education. Rose dreamt of the cosmos for as long as she could remember, and so through rebellious pursuit she is now navigating the world of STEM. .

Her studies are focused on Physics, Astronomy, and Applied Astronautics, and she hopes to someday make her way to space. Her passion tends to gravitate towards challenging some common stereotypes by sharing her own life story which you can find here: https://rose-df.com/2018/10/23/how-it-all-began/, and by engaging in advocacy for accessible, diverse, and inclusive education. When circumstances permit, she also provides small-grants for underrepresented/underserved individuals and victims of abuse.

Rose enjoys stargazing and photography. She has even processed space image data retrieved by NASA space probes like Juno currently studying Jupiter.
