Meet Daricia Wilkinson
From St. Kitts and Nevis! Meet Daricia Wilkinson. She has always considered how technology impacts people which made choosing the Human Centered Computing PhD program at Clemson an easy choice. She has been awarded the Facebook Fellow 2019 and the Google Women’s techmaker scholar 2019!
Daricia has earned her bachelor's degree at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) in St. Thomas. While at UVI, she founded a student club for Innovation and Entrepreneurship called UVIDEA where her group was able to start the campus's first innovation lab, securing 3D printers and teaching coding lessons.
Her current work at Clemson, under the supervision of Dr. Bart Knijnenburg, includes how to create design solutions that help people understand how apps share their data and searching for new ways to explain how those creepy ads online are presented to you. For her dissertation, she wants to focus on creating better safety tools for marginalized communities in the Caribbean.
