Meet Leah Fouchong
From Trinidad and Tobago! Meet Leah Fouchong! She is a Geography Teacher at the St. Francois Girls’ College. She is also the founder of Coexistence Expeditions. Coexistence Expeditions is an environmental enterprise aimed at promoting sustainable tourism through education, awareness, and empowerment. Leah is passionate about tackling environmental issues and preservation of the environment.
As a result of her love for the environment and conservation, Leah was a scholarship recipient of the Caribbean- Pacific Island Mobility Scheme (CARPIMS) Project where she completed a Masters degree in Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development in the Caribbean with a focus on marine, awarded by the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine in collaboration with the University of Belize.
Leah's passion and drive have provided her with the opportunity to participate in several conferences such as the URISA Caribbean Disaster Management Conference, Conference of Youth on Climate change, Peru and Ocean School Training in Costa Rica. She was also one of three national advisors to the Caribbean Youth Environmental Network (CYEN) and is a member of Trinidad and Tobago Eco Divers and Trinidad and Tobago Field Naturalists Clubs. Leah is truly passionate about environmental conservation work and is an avid advocate for the environment.
This led her to the creation of the community group by Changemakers for the Environment. Leah's group seeks to create eco-conscious advocates for the environment, change individuals’ mindset and empower them to become stewards for the environment. This is in an effort to promote and engage public participation in the fight for the protection and preservation of our environment and its scare resources. .
