Meet Micheline
From Trinidad and Tobago! Micheline Khan has a keen interest in nature and wildlife. She pursued an Honor’s Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto where she completed a thesis project focused on the effect of global climate change on rapid evolution in an agriculturally important pest.
She then found herself back in her native Trinidad working with a research team studying the ecological and evolutionary consequences of the evolution of a particular fish species in nature. She later worked in both municipal government (science education and outreach) as well as the Nature Conservancy of Canada.
After working for several years, Micheline decided to pursue a Master's degree in climate, land use and ecosystem services in France at the Université de Paris-Saclay and AgroParisTech. She completed her internship with the French National Institute of Agricultural Research. Her research focused on how climate change impacts agriculture, specifically European wild fruit trees, using species distribution modelling. Upon graduation, she joined a great organization working with large international partners focusing on climate, biodiversity and the Sustainable Development Goals. Her work of late is focused on using spatial data to inform climate and biodiversity strategies.
