From St. Eustatius! Our tiny Dutch island sister! Meet Naomi! Volunteering at the island's animal welfare presented her with her first infectious disease case, a rare form of neurological, canine distemper. She became fascinated by diseases. However the idea of infectious diseases fell by the wayside when she moved to Atlanta, GA for a B.S. in Neuroscience at Agnes Scott College.

Being at a small women’s college, she was able to learn about different laboratory and research techniques. During her undergraduate years, Naomi worked part-time as a veterinarian assistant at a 24-hour emergency animal hospital in Decatur, GA. As a junior at Agnes, she took Disease Ecology which reignited her interest in infectious disease. She then moved to Massachusetts for a year to study Infectious and Global Health at Tufts University. She graduated and moved back to Georgia where she started her own consulting company while also working for a Hand Hygiene tech company.
